About the CPA Score Release Dates
These timetables are simply the target CPA Exam score release dates, so scores can take longer. The AICPA has also notes the following with respect to the CPA exam score release schedule:
- All dates and times above are based on the Eastern Standard Time zone
- In most cases, Prometric sends examination data to the AICPA within 24 hours after a candidate completes the exam.
- If your exam data is received after the AICPA cutoff dates listed above, your score will be released during the next target release date.
- Candidates taking the BEC section may have to wait an additional week past the dates published above. This is due to additional grading required for the written portion of the test.
How to View Your CPA Exam Scores
In the vast majority of states, you can retrieve your scores directly from the NASBA website by entering your exam section number and your date of birth.
Otherwise, check with your State Board of Accountancy to see where to find your scores. You’ll also receive your test scores in the mail, but this is usually at a much later date.
How Your CPA Exam Score Report Can Help
In the unfortunate chance that you failed a section of the exam, don’t panic. It hurts to realize that you’ll need to retake an exam section. Trust me, I’ve been there!
The only thing you can do is move forward and learn from your mistakes.
This is where your CPA exam score report comes in.
Your CPA exam score report provides key insights into how you performed on certain portions of the exam. Before you toss it in the trash, read through the report. See which areas you performed well on vs. those that need the most improvement. Then, think about what areas to emphasize in your CPA review course the next time around. This will give you a huge leg up when you go to retake the exam in a few months.
How Has Continuous Testing Affected the CPA Exam Score Release Process?
Since moving the CPA Exam to a Continuous Testing model there haven’t been any major disruptions to the score release schedule. Continuous Testing was in the works for quite some time so it seems like the NASBA was well prepared.
The only major change is that there are now additional score release windows. Now that there are no longer any blackout dates, the additional release windows help maintain a consistent release timeline.
